Countdown to Kindergarten engages families, educators, and the Boston community in a citywide effort to enhance early learning opportunities and to support the successful transition of BPS’s incoming kindergarteners annually. Countdown’s programs and activities teach school readiness skills and create a continuum of services that support families from birth through kindergarten entry in the City of Boston.

Promotional Assets
One of Countdown's most popular programs is playgroups — weekly opportunities for parents and caregivers to meet, socialize, and engage in fun activities with their little ones. These playgroups help connect families, foster community, and prepare children for school. The flyer includes all the essential details families need to join in on the fun and make the most of this enriching experience! This flyer is shared digitally on their website and distributed at community outreach events.
Website Content Design
Countdown to Kindergarten needed a new website to effectively inform families and the broader Boston community about its programs. In my role at BPS, I collaborated closely with a web designer to launch the new Countdown to Kindergarten website (countdowntokindergarten.org), prioritizing user experience and information accessibility while embodying the C2K brand and showcasing its initiatives.
I established an information hierarchy to enhance site structure, organized images and content for clarity, designed web page mockups for functionality, and created interactive elements like buttons and icons to improve user engagement.
The 5,4,3,2,1 buttons featured on the homepage highlight Countdown to Kindergarten's work while providing a playful way to "count down" the steps to BPS Kindergarten through C2K’s initiatives. On the About page, these buttons direct users to information about events and programming that help Boston families navigate the transition to Kindergarten and help Boston’s youngest learners build school readiness skills, offering a visually captivating way to understand Countdown's key initiatives.

Researched, developed, distributed, and published a historical timeline that highlights the initiatives and history of Countdown to Kindergarten. This timeline chronicles the journey of this impactful program, showcasing key moments that illustrate its evolution over the years. Information was collected from the Boston city archives, insights from Countdown staff, social media accounts, and internal digital records.
